On Leading and Loving Well
Posted By: Amy Van Pay
I happen to know these two sweethearts in this video quite well. They are my in-laws and I love them dearly. I also got a front row seat to their journey to becoming healthier.
Whether it’s a marriage or a friendship or something in between, many of us find ourselves in relationships where we gauge our health by what the other is doing. We can be an enabler, always offering a second helping—wanting to feel okay about our second helping. We can be the nagger, needing them to do better so we can do better.
What broke the cycle is a lesson on leadership. Kathryn decided she was going to quit looking at what anyone else was doing, and walk her own road to health. Randy watched as she said, “No, thanks,” to the sweets, and, “Yes, please,” to getting outside to exercise.
She didn’t preach. She didn’t nag. She LED. And it didn’t take long before Randy followed suit. Together, they now encourage each other in making better choices. It’s a beautiful thing.
You might be waiting for that friend or spouse to step up and lead you. Instead, take the first the step. Lead yourself!
Now, that doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. Kathryn certainly didn’t. She reached out and got help from Fit Pastors. We kept her accountable, gave her direction, and encouraged her every step of the way.
What about you? Who is helping you lead yourself down this road of health? Don’t do it on your own!! While there are many options out there, you won’t find anything quite like Fit Pastors.
